Since the ADC Annual Awards were first presented in 1921, photography has been part of the celebration. After all, there were no TV commercials back then, no LED screens atop Times Square, no Photoshop, no Instagram. Back then, visual communication came in the forms of photography and illustration, and both are being elevated this year.
Of particular interest to photographers, the ADC Annual Awards has greatly expanded its photography categories this year, to better reflect the growing areas of expertise within the discipline. Photographers can now submit professional work — single photos or entire series — under the following categories:
