Michael Foley, Owner, Foley Gallery

Michael Foley opened his gallery in the fall of 2004 after fourteen years of working with notable photography galleries including Fraenkel Gallery, Howard Greenberg Gallery and Yancey Richardson Gallery. FOLEY brings together fine line and obsessive precision in the disciplines of drawing, cut paper, painting and photography. After 8 years in Chelsea, the gallery has relocated to the Lower East Side.

Foley went on to co-found The Exhibition Lab with partner Sasha Wolf in the fall of 2009. The Ex Lab is a study center for people involved in various aspects of fine art photography. It provides a vibrant modernday salon for artists, scholars and others who are interested in engaging the world’s diverse and vital photography community through the gateway of New York City.

Foley continues his interest in educating by serving on the faculty of the School of Visual Arts and the International Center of Photography where he teaches and lectures on issues in contemporary photography.

Joe Kraeutler, Curator/Dealer

For over fifteen years, Joseph Kraeutler has shared his vast knowledge with art world collectors, patrons, and scholars. Starting out, Kraeutler honed his skills by working in well-known galleries creating and developing their photography and contemporary art programs. In 2004, Joseph parlayed these talents into Kraeutler Consulting, where he worked directly with an exclusive group of international clients. This incomparable expertise led Kraeutler to his position as Head of Photography for Phillips de Pury Auction House, where he added auctioneer to his long list of capabilities. Kraeutler recently departed Hasted Kraeutler Gallery, where he was a co-owner for six years, to join Circa 1881 in their new venture. Joseph’s long and storied career matches Circa’s exciting, creative, and innovative way of exhibiting, managing, and promoting private art collections.

In his spare time, Joseph leads auctions and coordinates exhibitions for many charitable organizations, including the New York Academy of the Arts, Lotus House Women’s Shelter, New York City Public Schools, and more. Additionally, Kraeutler just completed his ten-year term as an active board member and participant for Robert Wilson’s Watermill benefit. Joseph continues to work with artists, collectors, and charities, while growing his personal collection of contemporary art.
