Emily Dryden Photography

Chapter: New York /
Pro Type: Photographer

Brooklyn-based and Georgia-born, Emily uses her love of travel and good conversation to influence her work. She has always been intrigued by the storytelling capacity of photos, and strives to create a composition that transports.

Emily received a degree in journalism and mass communication from the University of Georgia before attending Portfolio Center in Atlanta to study photography. After graduating in 2009, she moved to New York and worked as a freelance photographer, serving clients like Uncommongoods, Food52 and SAG-AFTRA before going full time at Uncommongoods in 2013. During her four years as their Senior Photographer, she honed her editorial, food and product photography skills while helping define the brand’s look.

Emily’s on-set style is fun and relaxed—and her several canine subjects can attest to her ability to go with the flow. She loves the versatility that can be found in a studio as well as the personal feel of a location shoot. When she’s not following the natural light around Brooklyn neighborhoods, she can be found talking over a Guinness about ancient civilizations, the best Thai food in the city, her cat Margot and French New Wave.
