APA Awards 2024 - we are now accepting entries into the National contest - here are the details:

  1. Our annual competition is open to all photographers worldwide, from emerging photographers to established professionals.
  2. Our Judges will select 46 APA Award Winners from 15 categories and one Best of Show.
  3. APA members save on each entry. APA Pro-Plus level members save 50% on each image
  4. All winners are featured in our annual awards printed publication.

Awards Entry Fees

Rates based on the level of APA membership:

  • $25: APA Pro-Plus (previously called Leader level)
  • $25: APA Professional
  • $25: APA Supporter, Associate, Emerging
  • $25: APA Educator or Student
  • $30: APA Contributor
  • $60: General Public (not an APA member)
  • $60: Series/flat rate per project (2-6 images) one rate

Chris is a multidisciplinary creative & creative director, currently the creative lead for Coca-Cola’s social. He enjoys staying up to date on every trend & new piece of tech, loves street art, and has a cat named Shrimp.

Biopic of Ada Guerin

Ada Guerin, Creative Director at Los Angeles Magazine

Ada Guerin is an award-winning creative director and entertainment veteran, currently working as creative director for Los Angeles Magazine. Previous to L.A. Mag, Ada was the creative director and visionary at TheWrap, managing all facets of the brand, from events to its award-winning photography, video and social media, as well as all digital products, and print publications.

Ada spent 14 years at The Hollywood Reporter as design director and associate art director. She was responsible for the multifaceted design of its weekly magazine and was an integral member of the 2010 team who rebranded and relaunched THR.com and The Hollywood Reporter from a daily trade to a weekly glossy magazine — winning an SPD award for feature design.

At TheWrap, Ada brought portrait and video interviews in-house and helped raise TheWrap’s traffic through interactive and carefully curated design. Ada produced, branded and managed TheWrap’s inaugural Power Women Summit, which was attended by more than 2000 women as well as influencers such as Haim, Emily Ratajkowski, Anita Hill, Mayor Eric Garcetti, and more. Throughout Ada’s career she has produced thousands of magazine pages, hundreds of photoshoots, video series and events and still finds it every bit as exciting and rewarding as she did when she first started. She loves all parts of the creative process, even the challenges. Ada believes the job of a creative department is to be collaborative, realize the vision of the editors and set trends that appropriately reflect the zeitgeist while remaining true to a brands’ DNA.

Paul Prudhomme is a creative director currently based in Los Angeles. He’s known for blending design, technology, and narrative into compelling visual experiences. With a deep commitment to innovation and collaboration, he consistently pushes creative boundaries, setting new standards in the ever-evolving digital landscape.

Dan Peralta, Creative Producer at Sensis

Dan Peralta has over 20 years of Advertising experience. As a Creative Director on integrated marketing campaigns, he has helped develop creative for government and private clients. Most recently, Dan has also taken on the role of Creative Producer, overseeing the full spectrum of productions, including traditional broadcast development, radio production, photography, social media, and digital asset development. His production background covers a range of clients including, but not limited to, government, utilities, healthcare, food, communications, and automotive. Dan has specifically launched Verizon Telcom services and products in the US Hispanic market and worked on AltaMed, FDA, Honda, Allstate, CDC, Splenda, and Lactaid, among many others.

Sarah Manna, VP, Executive Producer at Imre

Born and raised in Sweden, Sarah runs the Studio and the Production department at Imre. Leading a team of producers, retouchers, editors, designers, and production artists to ensure excellence in quality, smoothness, and efficiency across Imre’s process. Before that, she honed her experience and expertise at agencies like Deutsch NY, Anomaly, Taxi NYC, JWT, and Cossette, along with several years of experience in fashion and beauty and as an integrated producer running photo and video shoots. This wide and deep knowledge of production enables her to lead a team that currently produces TV commercials, Print, OOH, Social, Experiential, POP/POS, and Video campaigns. She lives in Westchester outside of New York City with her two kids.

Michelle Foster, Senior Art Producer at RPA

Shelly, as her friends and colleagues call her, is a sucker for creativity in all forms! Her career path started in gallery administration, led to working for an Instagram-affiliated startup during the boom of social media, followed by a short stint as a photographer herself, then as an artist agent for illustrators and commercial artists for several years - before ultimately growing into a leadership role in Art Production at RPA. Recent projects she’s produced have garnered attention from AdAge, The Webby Awards, ThinkLA, and more. Her production knowledge and experience is deep - working in all mediums including photography, CGI, illustration, truly anything visual - and genres include automotive, celebrities, healthcare, technology, conceptual, and food & tabletop products. She is currently producing content for Digital/Website, Social, Print & OOH, Experiential, as well as integrated Stills and Video content alongside national TV brand campaigns. Clients have included Honda, Apartments.com, Homes.com, Spectrum Business, Pocky, Farmers Insurance, Cedars Sinai, and others. She is based in Los Angeles but will travel for snacks.

Jessie is a brand builder and visual storyteller with a passion for end to end creative. She loves building dream teams that make amazing photography, video and design come to life. With a production background in features and music videos, his stops along the way have included NYU Film School, Paisley Park, and agencies Carmichael Lynch and Peterson Milla Hooks.

Maya Robinson is a Photo Director and Producer based in Los Angeles. She served as the Photo Director at Entertainment Weekly and spent over a decade at New York Magazine. During that time, she established the visual identity for Vulture.com and rose to the position of Senior Photo Editor for the magazine. She works as a freelance photo producer for Apple, focusing on global campaigns for Apple Music.

Roy is an award-winning Creative Director at VML, whose work has touched brands such as: ADT, Intel, Gatorade, NAPA Auto Parts, Quiktrip, AT&T, DirectTV and more. He is a creative visionary and leader. He is a former Adweek Executive Mentee and was named 2020 Trailblazer of the Year by the KCAdClub. He is a diversity advocate, public speaker, former KCAdClub Board Member.

Ignasi Tudela, Creative Director at Preacher

Originally from Barcelona, I started my creative career in a digital agency called Herraizsoto; then I moved to Amsterdam, where I worked at Wieden+Kennedy for over ten years, after that I led Polaroid's internal agency for 4 years. Currently, I am a Creative Director at Preacher in Austin, Texas. As a multidisciplinary artist, storytelling, strategy, and craft are at the heart of everything I do. Whether it’s a multinational marketing campaign or a personal project at home, I believe there’s magic in telling stories in engaging and unexpected ways.

Brandon Choe is a photo editor and producer based in Los Angeles. He recently served as the features and entertainment photo editor at the Los Angeles Times, establishing the visual identity of the awards magazine "The Envelope." His work spans celebrity portraiture, long-form photo essays and profiles. Prior, he was the photo editor at Deadline Hollywood and Getty Images. He currently works as a freelance photo editor for Disney.

Rachel Perez, Freelance Senior Photo & Video Producer

Rachel is a seasoned Senior Producer with 14 years of advertising experience. Managing every aspect of the production process from concept to completion. Working on brands such as Clorox, Botox & Juvéderm Aesthetics, AbbVie Pharmaceuticals, and Marlboro/Altria, to name just a few. She recently produced the national PSA for Ad Council, "Love, Your Mind" directed by Calmatic with creative by PGLang. She's constantly working to better herself and the work she's a part of. And an animal rights activist who spends most of her free time working with dogs in shelters. #adoptdontshop

Awards Fundamentals

Anyone can enter the APA Awards:

  • APA members receive a discount based on their membership level
  • Images are assigned an arbitrary ID for "blind" judging
  • There is no limit on the number of entries you can submit
  • The same image can be entered in more than one category but can only win once
  • An image that has previously won in the APA Awards is not eligible
  • Only the images in the "Fresh / New Work" category have a creation date requirement
  • The decision of the judges of the competition shall be final and binding
  • Entry fees are non-refundable
  • Winners will be notified in August, and winners are officially announced in September
  • APA does not accept responsibility for or warrant any product being delivered by a sponsor
  • Any applicable tax due on the awarding of prizes is the sole responsibility of each winner
  • Prizes and the APA Awards book are shipped to U.S. addresses only
