Untitled is an annual competition and exhibition designed to showcase the best work of APA members and beyond – Images that show your unique vision, creative passion, and individualistic style, titled or untitled. This contest is open to all photographers at any level. All entries will be curated by our jurors and the top 20 images will be selected to display for exhibition; the top three (3) images will be awarded prizes to those photographers living in the U.S.
No restrictions on genre or subject matter—portraiture, landscape, street, fine art, documentary, abstract, and everything in between are all welcome. We're looking for images that reflect your individual creative vision, titled or untitled.
While an APA membership is not required to enter, members receive discounts on annual call for entries, portfolio reviews, APA events as well as sponsor benefits and discounted pricing on gear and services throughout the year.

Karen Haas is the Lane Senior Curator of Photographs at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston where she is responsible for a large collection of photographs by American modernists, Charles Sheeler, Edward Weston, Ansel Adams, and Imogen Cunningham. The Lane Collection numbers more than 6,000 prints and ranges across the entire history of western photography. Her MFA activities include exhibitions such as Faces in the Crowd: Street Photography; Barbara Bosworth: The Meadow; Ansel Adams in Our Time; (un)expected families; Imogen Cunningham: In Focus; Gordon Parks: Back to Fort Scott; Edward Weston: Leaves of Grass; and Bruce Davidson: East 100th Street. She has recently co-authored Reframing Photography: Multiple Histories, with her MFA colleagues, and her other publications include Edward Weston: The Early Years; An Enduring Vision: Photographs from the Lane Collection; Ansel Adams; and The Photography of Charles Sheeler: American Modernist.
Leah Ollman has been writing about art for more than 35 years. Her reviews and features have appeared in the Los Angeles Times, Art in America, Photograph, The Brooklyn Rail, Paris Review Daily, Contemporary Art Review Los Angeles (CARLA), ARTnews, American Craft, and many other publications. She has written essays for books on William Kentridge, Alison Rossiter, Julie Blackmon, Michael Light, Chris McCaw, Klea McKenna, Michal Chelbin and others, and contributed to numerous exhibition catalogues. She earned her M.A. in Art History from the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University, and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Scripps College. Her book, Ensnaring the Moment: On the Intersection of Poetry and Photography, was released by Saint Lucy Books in 2025.
Amanda Smith is the founder and co-director of A Smith Gallery in Johnson City, Texas. She has been a photographer for over thirty-five years as well as a Certified Public Accountant. She used both her knowledge of photography and business skills to create the gallery fifteen years ago. Amanda has been a champion of photography, photographers and the creative potential of the photographic process through over 200 juried and curated exhibitions in the gallery and online. She has also been a juror for numerous outside organizations, including All About Photo, Analogue Forever, Dodho Magazine, Lamar University Alumni Art Exhibition, Texas Photographic Society, International Photography Hall of Fame, American Society of Photographers and Critical Mass.
Amanda’s personal photographic work began in the darkroom, working with both traditional and alternative processes. Amanda now creates her personal work digitally with various analog enhancements. Her images have been selected for numerous juried and group exhibitions, including most recently an honorable mention in the 25th Julia Margaret Cameron awards. Her work is in several collections, including The Wittliff Collections at Texas State University, Concordia University, Austin and numerous private collections.
