Join APA New York for a brand new APA event (in-person)
The Pro Crit Sessions September 23 at 6PM EST Pro Crit Session with Brian Clamp (APA Members Only)
We hand over the reins in the first series outing to Industry Professional and Gallery owner Brian Paul Clamp.
We will be joining Brian in his prestigious ClampArt Gallery as he offers an extensive review of the fine art portfolios of three of our APA-NY members. Anyone registered for this event may submit their portfolio (in advance) to be considered, and Brian will choose the three portfolios he will review.
Whether your portfolio is one that is chosen for review or not, this is still a great opportunity to interact, ask questions and learn directly from a gallery owner about vision, creating a body of work and working with galleries.
To be considered: Submit between 10-20 images (dropbox link found on the registration page.
Please name files as follows: (your name)_(image order #) and place them all in one folder with your name as folder title by September 21.
If selected, be prepared to bring prints.
This event will be limited to 25 in-person attendees. ***Registration required AND roof of vaccination will be required for entry.
Brian Clamp Bio: Brian Paul Clamp is the owner and director of ClampArt, a gallery in Chelsea in New York City specializing in modern and contemporary art with an emphasis on photography. ClampArt mounts ten to fifteen exhibitions per year featuring the work of emerging and mid-career artists. Mr. Clamp opened the gallery in 2000 after completing a Master of Arts degree in Critical Studies in Modern Art at Columbia University. For eight years prior to that Mr. Clamp served as the director of a gallery on Manhattan’s Upper East Side specializing in late 19th- and early 20th-century American paintings. Aside from exhibitions at his own gallery space, Clamp has curated numerous photography shows at various venues throughout the United States, and has reviewed photographers’ portfolios at dozens of events over many years. Mr. Clamp is the author of many publications on American art to date, and also occasionally contributes written work to various art periodicals.
