90 minute Bootcamp with marketing mentor Ilise Benum
As freeing as freelancing is, working independently can be scary too, especially if your projects just aren't paying the bills. You know you have to advocate for a higher rate on your own, but what if you've never done that before and are way too shy for that? What if you overstep and the client immediately finds someone else, meanwhile blacklisting you as a Difficult Person forever? And how do you even find out how much your work is worth, when some Craigslist girl just asked you to manage her gerbil sweater Instagram for free and, you might say yes?
Join us as marketing mentor and business expert Ilise Benun answers all those questions and shows you how to actually love having the money conversation (instead of avoiding it because you almost failed high school math.) This event also includes a five-minute guided meditation (the ideal amount of time, TBH), a facilitated mixer so you're not pretending to text in a corner because talking to strangers is scary, and, the best part: breakfast from Balthazar Bakery. After 90 minutes (or less if you have to dip out–we won't judge), you'll leave with valuable new connections and a greater sense of financial security. Or, at the very least, you won't ever be tempted to work "for exposure" again, which is the most important part.
This bootcamp is part of a multi-city series sponsored by Trupo, a socially-driven startup that lets freelancers buy curated dental and accident insurance packages at affordable prices. Led by Freelancers Union founder Sara Horowitz, Trupo is dedicated to building a safety net for the rising number of independent workers.
