The City was made for Street Photography, but it takes more than geography to be a street photographer. There are many who simply take snapshots on the streets and call it 'street photography'. But to create true street photography requires the meeting of vision with the hand-eye coordination of a superior photographic athlete who can read the elusive in a split second. Nina Welch-Kling is one such photographic artist who meets these decisive moments and produces memorable images.
In her presentation, Nina will share the project "Duologues" - an exploration of visual storytelling through the pairing of images, creating conversations between two seemingly disparate photographs. Her work emphasizes the narrative potential of pairing candid images taken on the street, inviting viewers to engage with the work in a thoughtful and immersive way.
In addition, Nina will introduce a new body of work, Rallentando (gradual decrease in speed) - an exploration of peripheral perception and memory of random encounters on a city street.
There will be lessons and inspiration here for anyone who wants to raise their street photography game.
This free event will be held in-person at Soho Photo Gallery. Seating is limited. Registration is required. One seat per person.
