On Friday, June 20, 2025, join APA|NY for a members-only, exclusive, curator-led walk-through of Arresting Beauty: Julia Margaret Cameron at the Morgan Library & Museum, a landmark exhibition celebrating one of photography’s earliest visionaries.
This exhibit presents an extraordinary range of Cameron’s 19th century photographs, including iconic portraits, literary tableaux and allegorical images that redefined the possibilities of photography as art.
Our private group tour will be co-hosted by Allison Pappas; Jane P. Watkins Assistant Curator of Photography at the Morgan Library and Keliy Anderson-Staley, 2022 Guggenheim Fellow and Professor of Photography at the University of Houston. With her deep expertise in wet-plate collodion photography, the same process Cameron used in the 19th century, Keliy Anderson-Staley offers a rare, firsthand perspective on the techniques behind the images.
Together, they bring a rich combination of scholarship, curatorial insight, and approachability to the exhibition experience. Both have led walk-throughs of this exhibition for students and photography enthusiasts, bringing Cameron’s legacy into vivid conversation with the present.
