About this event

The Evolving Landscape of Photography Publishing:

Since its inception, Daylight Books has engaged in photographic publishing and community art projects by re-imagining the documentary mode along with the more conceptual concerns of fine art. Through collaboration with established and emerging artists, scholars, and journalists, Daylight has become one of the premier showcases for contemporary photography. Daylight’s uniquely collectible publications work to revitalize the relationship between art, photography, and the world at large.

For nearly twenty years Daylight's evolution has consistently modeled recent developments in contemporary photography. From the original magazine to free multimedia features, digital storytelling software to an annual awards program, Daylight has created a number of different channels that all lead back to supporting the print publishing program. For the lecture, Michael Itkoff will be discussing Daylight's programmatic activities in the context of the changing landscape of photography publishing. He will provide a summary of Daylight’s output over the years and discuss what lies ahead.
