At 21 years of age and still a student at Columbia College Chicago photographer Vashon Jordan Jr. self-published a photo book titled Chicago Protests: A Joyful Revolution. The photobook was a culmination of capturing over 17,000 images by covering 35 demonstrations, community events, and moments that shaped the Chicago summer of 2020. In this presentation, Vashon will touch on his background and motivation for photography, including why it is so important to document your community at any moment in time.

Speaker Bio:
Vashon Jordan Jr. is a 21-year-old visual artist born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He uses photography and videography to showcase authentic stories and moments that reflect the people of Chicago. Vashon enjoys engaging with youth across the city to inspire and encourage them to follow their dreams. He received his Associate in Arts from Kennedy-King College and is currently studying at Columbia College Chicago.
