Portfolio Reviews can be a great way for photographers to get seen by the people who are in positions to hire them, or it can be a waste of time and money.

Building a solid portfolio, choosing the images you are going to show, and how you are going to present those images, are just two of the considerations that determine if your portfolio reviews will be successful or fall flat.

What are the other considerations? What are the things you might be doing that torpedo your review before it even gets started? Do you have a clear goal for your review? How to handle an action at the end, (eg, can I stay in touch with you for further reviews? What's the best way to connect? Would you be interested in______? Can I give you my card?) What are some tips, some best practices for getting it right?

Traci, Jana, and Rebecca have been in the portfolio review trenches, and in this conversation, these two experienced creatives will help enlighten you and guide you in the right direction for your next review.

This event is free to attend. Seating is limited. Registration required.

Speaker Bios:

Traci Terrick:

Traci Terrick is the founder of Poppy Creative Agency, a non-traditional representation and production company working with photographers and stylists in interior, food, hospitality, and lifestyle. With 20+ years in commercial photography, she's built her practice around a simple premise: artists deserve a partner, not a gatekeeper.

In 2018 she launched Artist to Watch, a six-month coaching program that's since run ten+ cohorts and fundamentally changed how she thinks about representation. That same year she co-founded Focus on Women, a national community for female-identifying creatives in commercial photography.

She doesn't call herself an agent. She calls herself an ally — and her photographers' client lists back it up.

Rebecca Karamehmedovic:

Rebecca Karamehmedovic is a creative producer and visual storyteller whose work spans editorial, advertising, and branded content. As co-founder of Sway NY, she leads the development of visually driven campaigns that combine strong creative direction with thoughtful production strategy. Known for her collaborative leadership and calm-under-pressure presence, Rebecca specializes in translating ambitious ideas into compelling human stories and visually resonant narratives. Jana Jarosz:

Strategic problem-solver. Art director. Thinker. Maker.

My work in advertising and branding centers on ideation, innovation, and respecting the creative process. From the first genAI prompt to the social posts, digital videos, or brick and mortar experiential installation, designing and building across mediums is critical to bringing the full voice of the brand to life.  Whether on set, in a client meeting, collaborating one-on-one, or leading a team, I believe that joyful “creation is content” (Susan Howe) and there is always, always—another idea. (huzzah) Before and after advertising hours, I run miles on the streets of NYC and design and build custom clothing using a zero-waste approach.
