Richard Renaldi: Crossing from Safety
World renown photographer Richard Renaldi will be conducting a free lecture entitled “Crossing from Safety” at The Light Factory on Friday, October 3.
Sponsored by APA Charlotte, this lecture is part of a weekend series of events held by The Light Factory to kick off their Richard Renaldi exhibition, Touching Strangers, which will run October 3 – November 7. In addition to the free lecture, Renaldi will also be conducting a two-day workshop at TLF October 4-5, Strangers in Charlotte: Photographing People (The Workshop is $550.00 – if you are interested, you can sign up here).
A Chicago native, Richard Renaldi received his BFA in photography from New York University in 1990. Exhibitions of his photographs have been mounted in galleries and museums throughout the United States, Asia, and Europe. His first monograph, Figure and Ground, was published by Aperture in 2006. His second monograph, Fall River Boys, was released in 2009.
Renaldi is the founder and publisher of Charles Lane Press, an independent publisher that showcases important new projects by contemporary photographers.
In a recent New York Times review, Anna Altman said, “What makes Renaldi’s photographs thrilling is that, even knowing his strategy, the viewer can’t help fabricating a story about the subjects’ relationship. We weave narratives around them — who they are, the unlikely tenderness that might exist between strangers.”
Don’t miss this opportunity to listen to the insights of this extraordinary social visionary.
Includes chapter events, photographer interviews, partner discounts, industry trends, and more.
