What’s next for your photography career?
Join APA San Diego and Medium Photo for an in-person presentation and book signing with Thomas Werner: What’s Next? The Business of Fine Art Photography.
The photography world is changing fast. Traditional career paths are evolving and business models are shifting, so it’s a good time to rethink how you approach your work and where it fits in the market. Thomas will tackle questions like:
✨ Where do you and your work fit in the fine art market?
✨ How should you present your work to galleries?
✨ What should a gallery contract contain?
✨ How do you gain visibility, and how much does social media matter?
✨ Is book publishing a real option?

He’ll also show you how to reassess your goals, challenge familiar patterns, and make intentional choices that lead to a more fulfilling career. What’s Next isn’t just a question about your career. It’s an opportunity to reconsider what’s possible.

About Thomas: He’s the author of The Business of Fine Art Photography (Routledge), The Fashion Image (Bloomsbury), and Twenty One Summers, co-authored with former Microsoft Search and AI team leader Derrick Connell. He’s a former New York gallery owner, a former Director of the photography program at Parsons School of Design, and an exhibiting artist whose work has been reviewed in The New Yorker. As a creative consultant, he works one on one with students, creatives, businesses, cultural institutions, and nonprofits on fashion and fine art.
