The Importance of the Final Printed Photograph, March 25, 2018

Sun 25th Mar, 2018 – 11:00am–3:00pm

By APA Admin in Los Angeles

Bonny Taylor, Director of The Print Studio at Film Solutions and Paul Batoon, Master Printer will discuss the importance of the Final Printed Photograph. Understanding today’s options available to get your work printed efficiently and cost-effectively. Together, they have worked with some of the top artists in LA, as well as Galleries, Museums, Institutes, Private and Corporate clients coast to coast and internationally for more than a decade now.

  • While using the photographs in the current group photography show Lines of Sight at Quixote Studios Hollywood, their talk will discuss what options today’s photographers/artists have.
  • What artists are using when printing and what you need to consider when preparing your work for printing.
  • They will answer questions from those attending about the printed work on the wall and how they assisted these 33 Photographers with their artistic process in addition to printing the work.

Having a print plan as a photographer requires often a practical workflow with tools when editing and preparing your files to be “print ready”, this is something Bonny and Paul specialize in. Understanding paper choices and how that information really can affect the final printed image and often framing style options. Ultimately this conversation is a great opportunity to build professional relationships, become more educated about the business of being a photographer/artist, and better understanding the process of fine art printing. Whether you are entering a completion, printing a portfolio for a new client or a gallery submission, or preparing your work for exhibition, there is a right way to do it. Bonny and Paul want to help you get there.

Also in attendance will be one of LA’s top framing/finishing companies, Finishing Concepts. Representatives, Steve and Victor will be onsite to discuss contemporary options for framing photographs and how you, the photographer can make better-informed choices once your work is ready to get to the wall.
