“Eyes Wide Open”

Photographs by Bruce Byers and Jessica de Vreeze

Artists reception:  Thursday, June 13, 2019, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

“Eyes Wide Open” presented by The Old Print Shop, features Jessica de Vreeze and Bruce Byers take on our lives.

Somewhere between place and time, comes the photographer and his camera.

Converting their observations into art; Moments become memories and inspirations for our future.

Barriers falls as they seize moments, scenes of our everyday lives, traveling the world or in their neighborhoods, telling the stories of our lives through their lens, from details caught on the scenes to street moments.

This exhibition transcends gender, time, medium and places. Jessica and Bruce invite you to be part of the conversation. Both Leica shooters, their photography differs and join as their ultimate mean is to share it with you.

"To take a photograph is to align the head, the eye and the heart. It's a way of life"

- Henri Cartier-Bresson

They invite you to discover their way of life, while showing ours.

Photography equals painting with light, while painting uses pigments to create colors shapes and image.

“Eyes Wide Open” explores the Hue of colors and its impact on Street photography. As Isaac Newton controversial experiment in placing white as the reunion of all colors, we’ll start from White to Black, From Black and White film photography to digital photography and all colors of the rainbow, for your eyes to slides from one image to next.

For Bruce Byers “ the photograph becomes visual art when it is seen”.

For Jessica de Vreeze “ Art is an inspiration, it should trigger an emotion. My mission is to create an image that will bounce its positive energy around and beyond you.”
