Raised in San Diego Stephen takes advantage of everything the region has to offer, from the beach to the mountains and desert. Stephen Cook started his photography career as a commercial photographer in 1977 after studying photography and art at San Diego City college then Film & Radio at San Diego State. Creating studio and location images for Harcourt Brace Jovanovich (HBJ), Comfort Hotels, Hilton Hotels, Mesa Vista Medical Center, and other local and regional clients. He changed careers to computers and system design for 16 years. In 2008 he retired and returned to his first love, photography. He has traveled to the Ukraine, Maui, Cuba, Italy, Germany, England, China, Belgium, and Peru teaching and creating images. He is equally comfortable in the studio creating still life, narrative images, or portraits and the “real world” capturing images of landscapes, people at work and play, and the wonders of our world. Stephen has continued his education and experience taking inspiration from the photographers before him as well the masters of painting including Caravaggio, Hopper, and Monet. He seeks to show the wonders of the physical and spiritual world coaxing his vision and passion into his images.
