American Photographic Artists National
Pro Type: Photographer
Ken Schneiderman is an American photographer noted for his portraiture and entertainment work. Born in Atlanta, GA, he initially studied classical and jazz guitar before discovering the world of photography. After earning a degree in Anthropology, he trekked a 35mm camera and film across Spain documenting the medieval pilgrimage route, El Camino de Santiago. Upon relocating to New York he found work as a black and white printer for legendary portrait photographer Arnold Newman. Eventually he would assist, apprentice and travel with a myriad of renowned artists including Mary Ellen Mark, Albert Watson, Dan Winters, Frank Ockenfels, Brigitte Lacombe and Andrew Eccles. Whether shooting soulful portraits for public awareness campaigns and editorial platforms, street photography in Japan, or key art for entertainment projects, Ken is known for his seasoned professionalism, comfortable demeanor, and commitment to his craft. He has been a volunteer photographer for Love Not Lost, helping to preserve memories of terminally ill family members since 2015. He has also freelanced as an adjunct instructor of portraiture and lighting on a college level and workshops. Despite all things digital, he still enjoys crafting portraits slowly with a 1959 Linhof 4x5 camera. Ken is currently based in Atlanta, GA with his wife, daughter and their Alaskan Klee Kai mix.
