Jacqueline Merveille

One of my artistic goals is to visually magnify Florida’s oddities by exploring its past and accentuate traits that I find exotic. I want my photographs to be aesthetic bridges between a sense of nostalgia and the playful quirkiness of my Florida. My work projects fantasy blended with some mischievousness that is meant to shake up conventions, push boundaries and question believes.
In parallel to art photographs, my strong desire to connect with people from different cultures and backgrounds instinctively brought me toward a distinctive photographic style. Indeed, environmental portraiture and photojournalism allow me to explore human nature and psychology, cultural differences while documenting social struggles. Photography has become the perfect alibi to tip toe into people’s life and become a silent witness of moments that may seem mundane but to me reflect the intimacy that I have been able to create with my subjects.
