Michelle Ranee Johnson is a self-taught, award-winning landscape, climbing/adventure, and fine-art photographer based in Fresno near Yosemite NP, CA. She is also fully vaccinated and travels half the year out of her van (Vanny Devito). She grew up being mesmerized by the photographs in National Geographic and Ansel Adams, and these photos transported her by her imagination to each different location. She kept her photography as a hobby as she went to CSU Fresno to obtain her BA in Anthropology with a minor in Art History and obtained her Master’s in Geology. Eventually, her passion for photography led her to become a professional photographer. She has been commissioned by Mad Rock and Rocktape and has worked with numerous other companies (such as Arc’teryx). Several photographs have been on exhibit at galleries throughout the United States this year, including galleries in Pittsburgh, PA, and Naples, FL. Michelle’s goal with her photography is to have people imagine they could walk right into her photographs and feel like one is right there at that location in the photograph. She wants to inspire others to not only explore their world but to have the desire to protect it. This world is a beautiful place, and one of her main goals is that her work can provide hope amidst the chaos and destruction we see every day on the news around us. To her amazement and honor, her photograph “The Parched Earth” was chosen by National Geographic Yourshot to be put on exhibit at Photofest 2019 in San Miguel de Allende for their assignment “A Planet in Balance.” A dream come true for her.
