Caroline Gutman is an American photographer and producer based in Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Her work focuses on political movements, gender and economic inequality, and the creative economy, connecting the past to the present. Caroline’s photography appears in The New York Times, National Geographic, The Atlantic, Smithsonian Magazine, The Washington Post, Mother Jones, The Guardian, ProPublica, Politico Magazine, and NPR, and she has worked with brands including PepsiCo, Liquid I.V., Peloton, Apple and British Airways. Caroline has received grants from The Pulitzer Center, the U.S. Department of State and the Economic Hardship Reporting Project, and her work has been exhibited at Photoville in New York. Previously, Caroline was a Fulbright Fellow in China where she documented indigenous women artisans and their indigo textile traditions. She also leads visual storytelling workshops for various international organizations and speaks fluent Mandarin and conversational French and German.
