In the first installment of our Ask Me Anything series, we've lined up Karen Blatchford who is Senior Art Buyer/Producer at VMLY&R. Karen's resume is littered with brand name agency experience like mcgarrybowen (named ad agency of the year on numerous occasions), FCB Chicago, DDB, and AbelsonTaylor. In addition to her agency experience, she also spent time as a cost consultant and an artist representative. Karen is the Swiss Army Knife of the commercial photography world. She has done it all and is ready to share her vast knowledge with our community in our Ask Me Anything series.

Karen is a Senior Art Producer with over 20 years of experience. Besides producing, she has worked as a cost consultant, an agent for photographers and illustrators, and a creative recruiter. Karen has hired visual artists for automotive, beauty, beverages, consumer goods, fast food, financial services, healthcare, insurance, retail, sports, and tech-related clients. She loves solving problems and working on print, digital, social, or video projects.
More than 25 years of experience have informed her unique perspective and insight for problem-solving. Patti is a thoughtful listener and conceptual thinker, able to quickly prioritize a timely and efficient plan for a project’s best outcome. She is highly engaged in each and every project from concept through completion. Her collaborative spirit brings out the best in all and delivers results that are mutually valued by both client and artist.
As she guides projects and builds partnerships, Patti’s collaborative relationships have benefitted from her passion about the work and her upbeat approach. She also shares her insights and experience as an agent and consultant to guide and mentor developing talent while tirelessly promoting industry standards and best practices in the profession.
